Business Intelligence in SharePoint has been a very hot topic recently. A number of companies from several industries have expressed interest in pulling data from SQL databases or other data sources and displaying graphs and charts on a SharePoint page.

I wanted to highlight a section of a previous video that demonstrates SharePoint Business Intelligence for oil & gas companies.

SharePoint Business Intelligence is a great feature, but it can be pricey. Users of the BI feature must have SharePoint Enterprise CALS, and the database requires either SQL Enterprise or SQL Business Intelligence.

Office 365 users can use Power BI for similar functionality.
