Embed a YouTube video into SharePoint

SharePoint has several options for adding videos to a page.  It even accepts YouTube content by embedding iframes snippets.

Embed Video

How do you get the YouTube embedding snippet?

To get the embedding snippet, you’ll need to navigate in your browser to the desired video on YouTube. Once you’re on that page:

  • Click the Share button under the video
  • Choose Embed
  • Click Show more and select your options, including width
  • Copy the code starting with “<iframe”

You can then paste that code into the snippet window in SharePoint.

Add the video to SharePoint

Put the SharePoint page into edit mode by clicking on Edit Page under the Gear. Then, place your cursor where you want the video, and under the Insert tab, choose Video and Audio. You will have four options: From Computer, Embed, From SharePoint, and From Address.

To add a video from YouTube, choose the Embed option. You can then paste the embedding code into the snippet window and click ok.
